Delicious Wines in the Strawberry Patch

The buds are unfolding on this year's strawberry crops, and all who love their juicy sweetness can't wait to get out there in the area's fields and pluck the juicy berries. Numerous local farms offer pick your own experiences, but one of the best around has to be at Andrews Scenic Acres on the 10th Sideroad, south of Acton on Hwy 25. It's family-friendly and it has a fabulous Scotch Block Winery where you can have your pick of award winning berry-delicious wines. One of the strawberry wines has a delectable hint of chocolate. For lily lovers, they have a spectacular pick your own flowers - bring a container and take home some of the most stunning blooms you'll ever see. Here, owner Bert Andrews samples his wares. Bert and his farm are going to be featured in the summer edition of Halton Hills Sideroads Magazine, published at The Independent newspaper office in the Georgetown Mall.

Peony Power

Peonies with their blast of petals rank high on my list of favourite blooms. I have spent days photographing these flowers, from Georgetown to Waterloo. These are a few of my favourites. The detail is from a Limoges plate, given to me by a friend and depicts numerous flowers, including the peony.

Erin Loves the Rodeo

Erin's much anticipated Rodeo comes to town every summer. The bull riding event at the close of each show provided a lot of excitement for everyone, especially for those at ringside. There were a number of close calls as the bulls turned frequently on their riders, and it was only due to the bravery and quick thinking of the "clowns" that everything turned out OK. Thank you to all who participated - to the people who came out to watch and enjoy a good time. Many of the photos taken at area rodeos by TraversyPhoto were published in last summer's edition of Arabella Magazine.

Photographer Contributes to Provincial Tourism Award

From Juniper Grill, Orangeville

The Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association received a silver medal in the Best Tourism Advertising category for Ontario. The team who created the prize-winning "Grown in the Hills" advertising campaign included Sandra Traversy of Traversy Photography, Michele Harris, Tony Reynolds, Valerie Jones, Bill O'Sullivan and Len Guchardi.

The "Grown in the Hills" campaign ran for seven weeks during the summer and featured over 300 radio spots on Toronto radio stations, plus website coverage on the Hills of Headwaters Website. Traversy Photography contributed most of the images for that web presence. This photo was taken inside Juniper Grill in Orangeville. My aim in creating this photo was not only to show off the beauty of the dessert, but to give viewers a visual link to Orangeville Theatre across the street, so that people would have an idea of where the restaurant is located. (The tipped plate is also hiding the presence of a small red car parked outside, which could not be moved - just another one of the typical problems photographers are faced with on a daily basis!)
